About IMA
Indian Medical Association (IMA) is the largest represented organisation of doctors of modern system of medicine in India which looks after the interests of doctors as well as the wellbeing of the community at large. It has a membership of 3.5 lakh doctors spread over in 28 State Branches, 5 Union territorial Branches and 1702 local branches in almost all the districts of India. In pre independence era there were Associations of doctors at few places in India. But in one of the doctors’ conferences, it was discussed that all these Associations of all these doctors should continue functioning under one Association. Read more

May everyone of us see to it
that nobody suffers from any pain and sorrow.
I do need ask for crown
Nor do I wish to be in heaven or reborn,
I only want to alleviate suffering of those people who are burning
in the fire of sorrow.
We the members of Indian Medical Association stand here to salute our National Flag, its honor and glory shall be our light & strength and its course shall be our course. We pledge our allegiance to it and realizing our responsibilities as the accredited members of this national organization, we swear we will dedicate everything in our power to see it fly high in the comity of Nations. About South Kolkata Medical Association
South Kolkata Medical Association(SKMA) is a new branch of IMA, working in the southern part of the city. The branch was inaugurated on 30th June,2013. The main purpose of the branch was to involve those doctors residing or practicing in the South Kolkata and not the members of IMA. During the short period of time the branch has 62 life members. Maximum numbers are fresh graduates but there are few seniors who have also joined IMA through this branch. The branch is registered with West Bengal Society Registration Act.
